Striking Sword's Dojo

The terrible thing about knowing things you don't want to know, Is that you can't UN-Know them. At least, That was how Striking Sword was thinking, Or might be what he was thinking. It was Hard to tell. The News was out now. Inevitibly it had reach his ears and Heavens above he truly wished he didn't. Shining Armor and Princess Cadence were going to have a foal.

He thought he had no Heart left to break. Yet the news stab him in it. He had expected his blood to boil, much like it had when he had learned That Cadence, Princess Cadence, Mia Amore Candenzia, The love of his life since Colthood loved That Wretch who had stolen everything from him. To boil when he learned of the wedding. To boil when he  fought his way through Changelings to save her only to discover That Shining's sow of a sister, Rescued her before He did. To boil when he arrived too late to stop the Wedding. To Explode with unthinkable rage and power, leaving a massive crater in the forest much like that day. But while his blood had boiled, It now froze like ice.

He wanted to rage. To Roar. To Unleash such Vengence on That miserable Armor and Shred all who stood in the way like never before. But he couldn't. He literally couldn't. As much as he wanted to...Oh How he wanted to...He just couldn't. He was incapable. His spirit and will were crushed completely.

Throughout all his battle with Shining Armor, Throughout all those encounters with the sow, Celestia, and whoever else that had stood in the way, Of all the blows he had managed to land on Shining, It was not the blows in battle from him that had hurt him most. No, Shining had beat with without even laying a hoof on him. All of Striking's hopes and dreams which had seemed long since obliterated, This just seemed to solidify that fact even more. Somehow He just knew Somewhere either Sombra or Chrysalis was getting a good sick laugh out of this.

He just sat one the roof of the dojo, His usual fierce expression completely eroded to one of misery and despair. Fierce, Ferocious, seemingly invincible Striking Sword, Now a broken Sword. The way he was now and swarm of Changelings could rip him to pieces and he wouldn't care. The Canterlot guards, all of whom just begging to lock him, could show up and drag him off right now and he wouldn't care.

Cadence, Her beautiful image flying in his mind over and over. The Mare of his dreams, The love of his life, The girl who's genuine inner beauty and his inspiration to Study, Train and strive for the Greatness he was destined for, The mare who would have made it all worth while...Only to be snatched from him when he wasn't looking. She had always been gone. But only now did it really sink in.  And as he thought about it, Without her and all those he had wished to do proud, The rank of Captain, Family tradition or not, Now felt like an empty title. Maybe he would have had more of a chance had his Father not kept him on such a tight regimen. Maybe if she had foal sat Brave Bow. These he had thought of for quite some time. It was better to think that there might have been a chance, Rather than no chance at All.

On a whole however, He guess he really shouldn't have been surprised. In the back of his mind he probably always figured this was going to happen sooner or later. But now a new voice was in his mind. It was saying. "Just what had you been hoping for? What did you think was going to happen? Destroy Shining Armor and...No!" He would only accept Cadence's love if she truly DID Love him. But Shining had made that impossible. His goal had been if he did finish Shining, He turned the blade on himself and...(Wait! This might be a bit too dark). Striking didn't know what he had been hoping for. His hate and revenge had all been what kept him going.

He didn't Want Shining's Dumb luck. He said. He didn't need it. He had always had to struggle and fight and that made him strong. But now that strength had all but left him. He sat on the roof in silence.

A foal. Striking thought. Had he really married Cadence, He had hoped there would be foals in they're future. But now he had no place in Cadence's heart. No place in her life. No place anywhere. He had no hope for the future.

Then there was a knock at the door. Sensing who it was he jumped down to ground but turned his back from the door. "Um..Striking?" It was Trixie. Striking stood still as a stone. "I...guess you heard?" Trixie asked. Striking didn't answer. Trixie stood where she was. This may have been a happy moment for most. But a terrible moment for one.

In the Canterlot Throne room, Princess Celestia looked at the scene. She was beyond happy for her niece and Shining Armor. But she took no pleasure in seeing Striking like this. None at all. Despite everything. She took no satisfaction in the misery of others less of all ones of her kingdom. The question now, Was would Striking do now? Would he be more angry and hateful towards the world like never before? It was all up to him now.
Sad Story probably
